The main function principle of plating sealer is to form a dense protective film on the metal surface, thus sealing the pores and microcracks on the surface of the plating layer, preventing the penetration of corrosive media and improving the corrosion resistance and durability of the plating layer. This protective film is usually formed through the role of metal and oxidizing properties, with thin and dense characteristics, can effectively isolate the metal and corrosive media to prevent the dissolution and corrosion of the metal.

Plating sealers are usually applied after the plating and cleaning steps. The workpiece is immersed in the sealer solution and then subjected to appropriate drying steps to ensure a strong protective layer. Sealing not only improves the corrosion resistance of the plated part, but also increases the surface gloss, improves aesthetics, and helps to increase the life and reliability of the plated part.

There are various types of sealers, including water-based sealers and oil-based sealers. Water-based sealers have a high flash point, are water-soluble, not easy to burn, and are safe and environmentally friendly to use; while oil-based sealers have a lower flash point and cannot be used in water, but are equally safe and environmentally friendly. Selection of the appropriate sealer needs to be based on the specific plating layer and use conditions to decide.
