So, ive had this in my amazon cart for a while -
Shop BuoQua 50W Powder Coating Machine 45L Capacity Electrostatic Powder Coating Machine Spraying Gun Paint 450g/min Powder Coating System (WX-958). Free delivery on eligible orders of £20 or more.
It went up by £50 a while back, and hasnt come back down.
I figured id have a bit of a look about. Plenty of sellers on ebay touting the same machine (which may be junk anyway, im unsure) and then google gave me this -
Discover VEVOR Powder Coating Machine WX-958 Electrostatic Spray Powder Coating Machine 50W 45L Electrostatic Powder Coating System Spraying Gun Paint System Powder Coating Equipment, Easy-to-use Panel and Durable & Even Finish at lowest price, 2days delivery, 30days returns.
Same kit, uk voltage, supposedly returns accepted, but clearly a bit of a shifty site, by the language etc. I suspect drop shipping.
But accepts paypal, and the price is over the limit for section 75 protection also.
What do you reckon? I mean the same item is being sold by loads of different sellers. I dont know if its the sort of kit that, if it works on arrival, youre mostly safe, or if its likly to work for 2 weeks and then break.
The thing is, the negative reviews are exactly what I'd expect. No surprise at all - they're an overseas company, who, as I mentioned, can't even get the language on their website right, and will offer no support at all.
But the product is a generic unit that a load of other sellers are selling also. So, assuming I go for that unit, I'm wondering if it's worth an extra £80 just to be able to talk to Amazon for a return rather than my credit card company for a section 75 claim.
I guess noone can really answer that for me.
Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for VEVOR Powder Coating Machine 45L Paint System Spray Gun Equipment Electrostatic at the best online prices at eBay! Free delivery for many products.
And then the same thing for £100 less on amazon -
Shop BuoQua 50W Powder Coating Machine 45L Capacity Electrostatic Powder Coating Machine Spraying Gun Paint 450g/min Powder Coating System (WX-958). Free delivery on eligible orders of £20 or more.
I mean, £340? But i know nothing about powdercoat, and would rather spend £500 on something that worked, than £300 on something that didn't!
Thank you.
Yeah, id pay money NOT to have things powdercoated. But im sick of painting the stuff i sell, and my buyers seem to think powdercoat is better than paint, so if i set up for powder, i save myself a whole load of time, and give them what they think they want.

Any chance of finding someone with a really good reputation and contract it out? I suspect that getting good results is a black art and/or the outcome of putting much time and money in to getting it right.
Your products are high end electronics/music bits arnt they? So rust and durability problems of powder shouldnt be a big problem.
What about Cerakote? Expensive but looks good, an option thats not powder coat that some may pay the extra for.
I'll be honest - I've given up trying to convince anyone that there's superior products to powder.
Powder is cheap and, I suspect, easy once you have the knowledge, and, in truth, whilst it's right down at the low end of the quality coatings scale, for the indoor stuff that I flog, it's probably fine.
Basically I figure if they want powder, then I'll give them powder.
(As an example, I do a business to business item, that someone else then retails to consumers - it's currently done in 2k but on their website they say it's powder as that's what their buyers think they want!)
I've suggested that the description is not entirely accurate, but they can't be bothered to educate people either, so the superior epoxy and 2k finish is listed for sale as inferior powder.
Totally. If they think powder is better, and it's (potentially) quicker and cheaper for me to do than 2k, I shouldn't try and correct them.
But really the point of this thread was not to discuss the pros and cons of powder, but for me to get advice on the specific machine.
I mean it's a generic clone. From what I can tell electronic goods (maybe) have a 2yr warranty under UK law, which (might be) enforceable with Amazon if it fails.
If it works, and earns money for 2 years, it will have more than paid for itself, so I guess the question, again, is -
How bad could it be?
(at applying powder)

Isn't @Matt-H into powder coating now. Perhaps you could ask him as he does not use @#£_& and researches what's good and what bad.
