Cold forging Process is defined as forming or forging of a bulk material at room temperature with no initial heating of the preform or inter- mediate stages. Cold extrusion is a special type of forging process wherein the cold metal flows plastically under compressive forces into a variety of shapes. These shapes are usually axisymmetric with relatively small non-symmetrical features, and, unlike impression-die forging the Cold Forging, process does not generate flash. The terms cold forging and cold extrusion are often used interchangeably and refer to well-known forming operations such as extrusion, upsetting or heading, coining, ironing, and swaging These operations are usually performed in mechanical or hydraulic presses, which are discussed.” Several forming steps are used to produce a final part or relatively complex geometry, starting with a slug or billet of simple shape,. Some basic techniques of cold forging and through a combination of these techniques, a very large number of parts can be produced,
Cold forging Process is extremely important and economical process, especially for producing round or nearly round parts in large quantities. Some of the advantages provided by this process are:
By far the largest area of application of cold is the automobile industry. However, cold forged parts are also used in manufacturing bicycles, motorcycles, farm machinery, highway equipment, and nuts and bolts.
All metals that exhibit ductility at room temperature can be cold forged. This group consists primarily of steels and aluminum alloys. However alloys of copper, zinc, tin, titanium, beryllium, and nickel are also cold forged for special applications.
Developments in the forging industry are greatly influenced by the worldwide requirements for manufacturing components that are more complex . To meet the present and future needs of the aerospace industry, Auto Industry . Micro Design Team has indigenously designed and developed Semi Automatic and Fully Automatic Versions of The Hydraulic Cold Forging Press Ranging from 20 Tons to 4000 Tons . The Structures of these Machines are Rigid and conforming to the Geometrical Tolerances as per JIS b 6403 : 1973 ‘Test code for performance and accuracy for hydraulic presses’ issued by Japanese Industrial Standard Committee (JIS). and meeting Safety Norms as per CE / OSHA Requirement . with Proper Guiding Arrangement which assure the Accuracy of the Movement of Machine Beds .
The operation of Micro Brand Cold Forging hydraulic presses is relatively simple and is based on the motion of a hydraulic piston guided in a cylinder . Hydraulic presses are essentially load-restricted machines; i.e., their capability for carrying out a forming operation is limited mainly by the maximum available load.
The key to a successful metal forming operation, i.e., to obtaining the desired shape and properties, is the understanding and control of metal flow. The direction of metal flow, the magnitudes of deformation, involved greatly influence the properties of the formed components. Metal flow determines both the mechanical properties related to local deformation and the formation of defects such as cracks or folds at or below the surface. The Metal Flow is controlled very precisely in the Cold Forging Machines developed by us .
● Micro Brand Cold Forging hydraulic presses, the maximum press load is available at any point during the entire ram stroke, which can be controlled Manually or Through HMI . In accumulator- driven presses, the available load decreases slightly depending on the length of the stroke and the load-displacement characteristics of the forming process.
● Since the maximum load is available during the entire stroke, relatively large energies are available for deformation. This is why the Micro Brand Cold Forging hydraulic press is ideally suited for extrusion-type forming operations requiring a nearly constant load over a long stroke.
● The maximum load can be limited to protect the tooling. It is not possible to exceed the set load, because a pressure-release valve limits the fluid pressure acting on the ram .
The ram speed can be varied continuously during an entire stroke cycle. Adequate control systems can regulate the ram speed with respect to forming pressure or product temperature This control feature can offer a considerable advantage in optimizing forming processes . Therefore, Micro Brand Cold Forging Hydraulic Press is the Preferred Choice by many Customers in automobile industry.
We also Integrate Robots with the Machine fro Pick and Place of the Components . Ancillary Equipment’s such as Tool Lubrication Devices , Conveyors can also be integrated on Customer Request .
