Standard wireline double tube core barrel are applicable for most drilling conditions, while wireline triple tube core barrel are mainly used for coal, clay bearing or highly fractured drilling formations. A split steel tube inside the inner tube retains the core sample in its received state for easier loading into core trays or for storage. The core lifter, core lifter case and stop ring are different from the standard double tube core barrel, a little smaller in diameter to retain the slightly smaller core.
